A sampling of theater performances the weekend of August 27-30, 2009:

Business ShowTransactors Improv presents a completely improvised show about business and work, based on audience suggestions. Saturday August 29, 8:00. The ArtsCenter, Carrboro.

Summer and Smoke – Tony Lea directs a stellar cast in Tennessee Williams’ drama of romantic yearning. This weekend’s shows: Friday and Saturday at 8:00, Sunday at 2:00. (Friday opening night show is sold out.) Continues through September 19. Deep Dish Theater Company, Chapel Hill.

The Living Sea of Memory – Paperhand Puppet Intervention presents its 10th annual outdoor summer production, celebrating the richness and complexity of our inner life and dreams. This weekend’s shows Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, preshow at 6:30, performance at 7:00. Forest Theater, Chapel Hill. Continues through September 7 in Chapel Hill, plus September 11 & 12 at the NC Museum of Art in Raleigh.

Shakespeare’s R&J – Four prep school boys perform Romeo and Juliet in Joe Calarco’s critically acclaimed adaptation of the classic tragedy. Raleigh Ensemble Players. (This weekend’s shows have been canceled due to illness. Check REP’s website for information about possible rescheduling.)
