Durham’s monthly art walk returns Friday night, featuring a bunch of visual arts and performances to see at venues all over downtown and beyond: ranging from Carole Baker’s constructed environment “The Confessional” in Room 100 at Golden Belt, to the sci-fi digital photography of Alan Welch at Durham Central Market.
Off the beaten path (west of Ninth Street), Monkey Bottom hosts a benefit for hospitalized local blacksmith Jimmy Alexander called “From the Ground Up”, featuring the work of local metal artists and musicians.
And at Manbites Dog, it’s an opening reception for photographer Ann Arbor’s show “At Home in the World” from 7:00-7:30; plus the opening night for Manbites’ satiric and creepy new show, Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom, starting at 8:15.
Start your tour early — there’s a bunch to see. Get the full list and a map at Third Friday.
