Mystery Theater Contest – Clos Call!

47 years ago, in 1963, a Triangle theater company staged this intense-looking production of…?

UPDATE: Play identified! See comments. Still looking for i.d. of actors and company…

Be first to name the play in a comment and win a free pass to Manbites Dog’s 2010 production of Oh, the Humanity.
• It’s not Dial M for Murder (no scissors!)
• It’s not Wait Until Dark (not yet written!)
• It is translated from the French.

Someone recently passed the photo to me. I don’t have much information about it other than the play name, the year of production, and the photographer — but I want to know more, so free passes as well for anyone who can identify the actors or the theater company.

  1. Scottie says:

It looks like “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf”.

    • Ed says:

Good guess — but incorrect. (“Virginia Woolf” was still playing on Broadway, so it wouldn’t have had a local production that soon.)

  2. Scottie says:

lol! Just comprehended “translated from the French”. Hrm… “No Exit”? I don’t remember a choking scene, but it would fit.

    • Ed says:

You are correct! According to the caption on the picture frame, it was No Exit (or Huis Clos — see what I did there?).

Email me to arrange your comp ticket!

And we’re still trying to figure out the actors and the company — anyone around Durham in the 60’s?
