Hello Dolly! – Jerry Herman’s musical version of Thornton Wilder’s The Merchant of Yonkers (itself an adaptation of two 19th century works). Presented by NC Theatre. This week: Saturday 2:00 and 8:00, Sunday 2:00 and 7:00. Continues through May 15. Memorial Auditorium, Raleigh.

The Little Mermaid – A (non-Disney) stage version of the Hans Christian Andersen story, presented by Legacy Repertory Company. Two shows: Saturday 2:00 and 6:00. Carolina Theatre, Durham.

Puss in Boots – Hello, kitty! Charles Perrault’s tale of a feline con artist in a family-friendly production presented by Cary Players. This weekend: Thursday-Saturday 7:00, Sunday 3:00. Continues through May 14. Herb Young Community Center, Cary.

Sideways Stories from Wayside School – Raleigh Little Theatre presents a play for kids about strange adventures in an unusual school, adapted from the Louis Sachar books. This week: Friday 7:30, Saturday and Sunday 1:00 and 5:00. Continues through May 22. Gaddy-Goodwin Theatre, RLT, Raleigh.
