Wicked returns to the Durham Performing Arts Center in May for a four week run. The acclaimed and popular Tony Award-winning musical offers a revisionist take on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, retelling the story from the point of view of Elphaba – aka the Wicked Witch of the West.
The touring production last came to town in 2010 to sold-out houses and a record-breaking run at DPAC.
But all was not rainbows and ruby slippers. Rumors of cast problems swirled around the production at the time, problems that were first reported on in an exclusive Upstager story.
We hope those problems have been resolved; but we won’t know for sure until the curtain goes up on May 2.
