Chicago – Give ’em the 37-year-old razzle dazzle! It’s a touring production of the 1975 Kander/Ebb/Fosse musical (and current long-running Broadway revival). This week only: Tuesday-Thursday 7:30, Friday 8:00, Saturday 2:00 and 8:00, Sunday 1:00 and 6:30. Closes Sunday. DPAC, Durham.
Hairspray – John Waters opines on the state of racial relations in early 1960’s America as Clayton Youth Theatre presents the wholesome and uplifting stage musical version of one of his least depraved movies. This week: Thursday-Saturday 7:30. Closes Saturday. The Clayton Center, Clayton.
Race – Another white male voice heard from. David Mamet opines on the current state of American racial relations, in this satire set in a multi-racial law firm. Presented by Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy and Theatre Raleigh. Neither director nor cast listed on the website, but presumably there are some talented folks involved. This week: Wednesday-Saturday 8:00, Sunday 3:00. Closes Sunday. Kennedy Theater, PEC, Raleigh.
