Avenue Q – The 2002 puppet-human hybrid musical (“Terrifying!” – Zack Smith, Independent Weekly), presented by Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy and Theatre Raleigh. Directed by Richard Roland. This week only: Wednesday-Friday 8:00, Saturday 2:00 and 8:00, Sunday 3:00. Fletcher Theater, PEC, Raleigh.

Hufflepuffed – Comedic Harry Potter fan-fic sketches, co-produced by Mon Frere and Burning Coal’s Second Stage series. (Not intended for kids.) This week: Thursday-Saturday 7:30 (or possibly 8:00), Sunday 2:00. Murphey School, Raleigh.

The Rocky Horror Show – If you’re half the fan you think you are, you’ve been antici————pating this all summer. Raleigh Little Theatre presents the 1973 musical, directed by Haskell Fitz-Simons. This week: Friday and Saturday 8:00, Sunday 3:00. RLT, Raleigh.

In a Relationship – A story – made up on the spot — about, you know, relationships. Presented by Little Red Backpack (cobbled together from members of Transactors, Dirty South, and ComedyWorx). Plus: two-person improv by Mixed Signals. One show: Saturday 8:00. Common Ground Theatre, Durham.

Sketch Cagematch – Weekly presentation of comic Darwinism in action: two sketch teams go head to head with 22 minutes of their best material. The team with the funniest survival strategy comes back next week, the unfunniest goes home in shame. This week it’s Shun Man Woh taking on the winner of last week’s Petting Zoo versus Cherry Pringles blood bath. Saturday 8:00. Dirty South Theater, Carr Mill Mall, Carrboro.

City of Frogs – Triangle treasure Paperhand Puppet Intervention presents its 13th annual outdoor giant puppet pageant. This week: Friday through Sunday 7:00 (6:20 preshow). Continues through September 9 at Forest Theatre, UNC Campus, Chapel Hill. (Continues September 14-16 at NC Museum of Art, Raleigh.)

Historic Interpretations auditions actors to portray characters from Sleepy Hollow in a special event. Saturday 1:00, North Raleigh Community Church, Raleigh. More information.
