A Drop in the Bucket: The Big Dreams of Tiny Things – Paperhand Puppet Intervention presents their latest annual family-friendly outdoor giant puppet extravaganza. This week: Friday-Sunday 7:00 (6:20 preshow featuring local musicians). Continues through September 7, Forest Theater, UNC Campus, Chapel Hill; continues September 11-13, NC Museum of Art, Raleigh.

* Much Ado About Nothing – Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, relocated to a 1989 lakeside McMansion. Presented by One Song Productions. Directed by Grace Siplon. This week only: Thursday-Saturday 7:30, Sunday 2:30. The ArtsCenter, Carrboro.

Sleuth – Anthony Shaffer’s 1970 mystery is presented by Theatre Raleigh. Director not listed. This week: Wednesday-Friday 8:00, Saturday 2:00 and 8:00, Sunday 3:00. Continues through August 16. Kennedy Theatre, DECPA, Raleigh.


* Detroit – Two suburban couples discover the precariousness of their middle-class lifestyle. GASP Theatre Company presents Lisa D’Amour’s 2010 play. Directed by Jack Prather. This week: Thursday-Saturday 7:30. Closes Saturday. Cardinal Gibbons High School, Raleigh.

Moving Pieces: 2 – An ambulatory, interactive performance set and performed in various locations in Raleigh’s Mordecai neighborhood. Presented by Seed Art Share. This week: Friday 6:00 and 8:00. Continues each First Friday through September. Starts at the Trinity House, 549 N. Blount St., Raleigh.


* Freight: The Five Incarnations of Abel Green – StreetSigns Center takes its lauded Triangle production of the new Howard L. Craft play to New York. Directed by Joseph Megel. This week: Tuesday-Saturday 8:30, Sunday 4:00. Closes August 9. HERE Arts Center, New York City.


* No Shame Theatre – Monthly open performance venue for original, short form theater and performance. One night only: Saturday 8:00 (sign-up to perform: 7:00). The ArtsCenter, Carrboro.
