The New Colossus – A family of frustrated, attention-starved artists flocks to the seashore. One of them has a gun…what could possibly go wrong? Little Green Pig presents Tamara Kissane’s darkly comic reboot of Chekhov’s The Seagull. This week: Thursday and Friday 8:15, Sunday 7:30. Continues through June 4. Manbites Dog Theater, Durham.


* Beertown – A collaborative and audience-immersive theatrical pageant/civic ceremony devised by dog and pony dc and presented by Raleigh Little Theatre. Director: Rachel Grossman. This week: Thursday-Saturday 8:00, Sunday 3:00. Closes Sunday. Gaddy-Goodwin Theatre, RLT, Raleigh.

* The Mystery of Edwin Drood – Theatre Raleigh presents a “scaled down” 90 minute version of Rupert Holmes’ 1985 musical, adapted from Charles Dickens’ unfinished final novel. No director listed. This week: Wednesday-Friday 8:00, Saturday 2:00 and 8:00, Sunday 3:00. Closes Sunday. Kennedy Theatre, DECPA, Raleigh.


* Bull City Blues – Fourth episode of a new serial improv show based on tv police procedurals. Directed by Rachel Klem. Presented by Common Ground Theatre. One performance: Friday 8:00. (Season finale episode scheduled for June 3.). Common Ground Theatre, Durham.

* Help, We Gotta Pee! – FatMouth Improv presents an evening of embarrassing true stories. Special guest: renowned cabaret singer Ellen Ciompi and pianist Glenn Mehrbach. A benefit performance for Human Rights Campaign and its efforts to overturn North Carolina’s HB2. One show: Saturday 8:00. Common Ground Theatre, Durham.

* Transactors Improv: For Families! – The eponymous group presents a family-friendly show. One performance: Saturday 6:00. The ArtsCenter, Carrboro.
