A listing of Triangle theater performances
through November 27, 2017
Dot – A dysfunctional family with an aging mother reunites for the holidays in her West Philly neighborhood. PlayMakers Rep presents Colman Domingo’s 2016 comedy-drama. Directed by Nicole A. Watson. This week: Wednesday-Saturday 7:30, Sunday 2:00. Continues through December 10. Paul Green Theatre, CDA, UNC Campus, Chapel Hill.
Lake Placid – Set in upstate New York during the 1980 Winter Olympics, Little Green Pig’s improvised play with music presents a different story and a different guest star every night. Directed by Jaybird O’Berski; music by Louis Landry. This week: Friday and Saturday 8:00, Sunday 7:00. Continues through December 9. Presented at a new performance space: The Fruit, 305 S. Dillard, Durham.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical – An annual presentation of Broadway Series South, this stage musical version of the Beloved Holiday Classic™ is based on the venerable 1964 Rankin/Bass animated TV Xmas special (which vastly expanded the mythology of Johnny Marks’ 1949 hit song for Gene Autry — itself based on a 1939 Christmas promotional coloring book created by Robert L. May for Montgomery Ward in Chicago). Get your tickets early — this one sells faster than the bargain table at Misfit Toys “R” Us. This week: Friday 2:00 and 5:00, Saturday and Sunday 11:00 and 2:00. Continues through December 24. Fletcher Theater, DECPA, Raleigh.
