Daddy Long Legs – Theatre Raleigh presents the 2009 two-character stage musical adaptation of Jean Webster’s 1912 novel about a young orphan and her mysterious benefactor. Directed by Megan McGinnis. Blood Done Sign My Name – Set in Oxford, North Carolina, Mike Wiley’s play – adapted from the memoir by Timothy Tyson – tells the true story of a racially motivated 1970 murder and its aftermath. Directed by Joseph Megel; presented by Raleigh Little Theatre. This week: Thursday-Saturday 8:00, Sunday 3:00. Extended through June 3. Dry Powder – Sonorous Road’s new rep company presents Sarah Burgess’s 2016 dark financial comedy set in a private equity firm. Directed by Mark Filiaci. Presented by Sonorous Road Repertory Company. * A Night with Janis Joplin – Touring production of a jukebox musical featuring songs by Joplin and the women artists – Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone, Bessie Smith – who inspired her. Wakey, Wakey – “We’re here to say goodbye.” For its final production, Manbites Dog presents Will Eno’s 2017 comic meditation on the sorrow and joy accumulated on life’s journey. Expect laughter. Expect tears. Expect celebration. Directed by Jeff Storer. No performances the week of May 14-20; resumes Wednesday May 23. Continues through June 10. Manbites Dog Theater, Durham.
