Big Fish – A young man tries to unravel the truth behind his father’s tall tales. Theatre Raleigh presents the 2013 musical, based on Daniel Wallace’s 1998 novel and the 2003 film adaptation. Directed by Eric Woodall. This week: Wednesday-Friday 8:00, Saturday 2:00 and 8:00, Sunday 3:00. Continues through July 22. Kennedy Theatre, DECPA, Raleigh.

First Date – A couple meets for a blind date and things get complicated. NRACT presents the 2012 musical by Austin Winsberg, Alan Zachary, and Michael Weiner. Directed by Pete Comperatore; Music Director: Rebekah Holland. This week: Friday and Saturday 8:00, Sunday 3:00. Continues through July 29. DECPA, 7713-51 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh.

Goblin Market – Adapted from Christina Rossetti’s wonderfully strange 1862 poem, Polly Pen and Peggy Harmon’s 1985 musical adaptation tells the story of two sisters who encounter mortal peril when they venture into the realm of goblins. (Suggested age: 15 and up.) Directed by Ashley Popio; Musical Direction by Katherine Anderson; Choreography by Jennifer Palmer. Presented by Women’s Theatre Festival as part of its 2018 “Women Are Heroes” season, in partnership with The Carolina Ballet. This week: Friday 8:00, Saturday 2:00 and 8:00, Sunday 2:00.
