* Occupy the Stage – Women’s Theatre Festival launches its 2017 series with a 24-hour event in which plays written by women are performed as staged readings. Friday 8:00 p.m. – Saturday 8:00 p.m. Sonorous Road Theatre, Royal Bakery Building, 3801 Hillsborough St, Raleigh.
Space Girl – Roller Derby! Planetarium-style light shows! Orchestral sounds of deep space! Mora V. Harris’s play tells the story of a 16-year-old lesbian alien from the planet Zlagdor struggling to fit in at high school. Presented by The Sisters Koop as the first show in the 2017 Women’s Theatre Festival. This week: Friday and Saturday 8:00, Sunday 3:00. Continues through July 9. * Struck – Theatre Raleigh presents Sandy Rustin’s 2016 comedy about a woman who suspects mystical forces are at work when she is struck by a bicyclist on the streets of New York. Director not listed. This week: Wednesday-Friday 8:00, Saturday 2:00 and 8:00, Sunday 3:00. Closes Sunday. Kennedy Theatre, DECPA, Raleigh.
