* Miss Saigon – DPAC presents a touring production of the 1989 musical, a loose adaptation of Giacomo Puccini’s opera Madame Butterfly transposed to Vietnam during the closing days of the war. Village Voice critic Michael Feingold famously disliked the show when it opened on Broadway in 1991: “Every civilization gets the theater it deserves, and we get Miss Saigon, which means we can now say definitively that our civilization is over.” Celebrate the end of civilization this week only: Tuesday-Thursday 7:30, Friday 8:00, Saturday 2:00 and 8:00, Sunday 1:00 and 6:30. Closes Sunday. DPAC, Durham.
