The 39 Steps – Patrick Barlow’s clever 2007 stage adaptation of the 1935 Alfred Hitchcock thriller gives quite a workout to four actors playing dozens of characters. It’s the first of two local productions this month – Temple Theatre’s version opens next week. Though publicized as an adaptation of the original John Buchan novel, the script relies mostly on Charles Bennett and Ian Hay’s screenplay for the Hitchcock film.
